It is incredibly brave and IMPORTANT that you have shared this and I am grateful. You are viewed as an incredibly talented, health minded individual and many would never guess what behind it all is like for you. The more we normalize and speak about these struggles the more hope we have for people to understand that they are not alone and that you can be a busy successful person on the "outside" and something very different on the "inside". Poco a Poco my friend-whatever pace is best for you! Thank you
Thanks for opening up to your audience like this! I really think that’s what social media should be about - not just the pretty pictures, but also the struggles that happen behind the scenes. We’re living in a fast-paced, demanding, and right now, pretty scary world. Staying sane through all of that while trying to be creative and balanced is a hell of a tough job.
If it helps: your podcast and videos really helped me find my focus during the COVID days and got me more into nutrition and training. Without you and your content, I wouldn’t have made it through that time as well as I did. So, just know this - you’re good enough! Go for it!
Yes! I agree so much. It feels weird to share but at the same time I wish more people on social media/online shared things like this. It means so much you took the time to read this and that my stuff has made a positive impact on you. Thank you!!
I may not be your target audience, but you inspire me always, Jackson. As someone who battles depression regularly, I can relate to these words. And it's also a reminder of how big the disconnect can be between what we put out there for the world to see and what we're feeling inside. Trust that you are making a huge, positive impact on the people around you and keep doing what you're doing.
Speaking out about mental health is brave, trusting, selfless and compassionate. Each post, article, speaking forum has the potential to change lives and save lives. Thank you so much for using your platform in the endurance sports arena to remind those that suffer from mental illnesses that they are not alone and to educate all about mental health. If we all treated mental health as we do physical health what a different world it would be. Lack of knowledge keeps many from seeking proper care/getting diagnosed/treated, and that is a tragedy. I once lacked understanding, then my daughter got sick (bipolar 1 disorder), and now I am educated, but it took that personal experience for me to study and learn about mental health. More power to you Jackson, I can't thank you enough for sharing your experience.
Hey Jackson. Without question your words have impact and purpose. You may have more quiet followers than you know. I’m one. I don’t know who wrote it but here is a quote I like. “You’d be surprised who’s watching your journey and is inspired by it. Don’t quit.”
Commenting for the sake of dialogue and personal input. Depression could be a nice time for mental and/or physical change. A long and creative adventure is a good cure under certain circumstances. At times, endurance athletes put themselves in unsafe / sketchy situations to find mental relief; don't do that. Otherwise, it's good to be reminded of why we live here and that there are others making hard sacrifices to be here for that same reason. It's a nice time to get out of town, even if for a day, whether Twin or Boise. Both of those communities and landscapes offer experiences the WRV lacks. The last idea is to get out the classic pen and paper. Whether it's planning out the Spring/Summer ahead or working on a personal project ( substack, skimo coaching, or something I'm not aware of ). There are always ways to elevate yourself, while not being outside.
Thank you for your honesty. It is more helpful than you know. I have been listening to you since day one of the TFF podcast days. You have always added value to my life. Thank you for continuing to do so.
Please get Aaron as a guest star on in the flow! I would love to hear what he has been up to, and to hear you two banter like the old days!

Thank you Chip. This struck a chord and I appreciate your support and words!
Vulnerability is one of our most underestimated and underutilized strengths. You’re stronger than you realize.
