Epic story! Thank you so much for sharing your journey. It has been exciting to follow your journey. I was curious, are you no longer plant based? I imagine that would be hard to do on such a long journey. I’m a long time plant based athlete, and was wondering if you still are.

Cheers!

Thank you for reading! I definitely had to relax my standard plant-based diet here. The options are extremely limited out on the Divide with mainly really rural towns and gas station resupplies. I don’t think I would be able to meet my protein needs and recover over such a long race. So being a little more flexible and opportunistic with some dairy and eggs was necessary, but back to my normal routine now. It’s for sure a dilemma, but I don’t want to limit myself on these kinds of trips/adventures.

Totally! That all makes so much sense. I think being able to go on such an epic journey requires flexibility. I haven’t tackled anything to the scale of needing to change the way I eat, but I see the value in doing so. Happy adventures :)
